Shaisiah & Lamar

Shaisiah and Lamar’s story began with two things they both loved dearly: food and music. Ironically, they didn’t meet at a concert or over dinner. Instead, fate placed them in the same workplace, where they spent nearly two years unknowingly walking past each other almost every day.

Then came the shift that changed everything.

One evening, Shaisiah decided to pick up an extra shift as a certified security guard. Little did she know she’d be picking up a future husband, too! Meanwhile, Lamar had also picked up an extra shift—and, of course, some food from the lobby of Montefiore Center’s main campus. Priorities!

What started with a simple “hello” and “goodnight” quickly turned into a conversation about music. But anyone who knows them knows there was nothing small about that topic. One song led to another, one conversation led to the next, and before long, they realized they had found someone who could match their energy, challenge their playlists, and somehow make time fly without either of them noticing.

Hours felt like minutes whenever they talked. They shared stories, dreams, goals, and plenty of laughs. What began as a connection over food and music soon became a friendship neither wanted to end, and eventually a love neither could imagine living without.

The conversations became longer, the feelings became deeper, and somehow two people who had spent years walking past one another became each other’s favorite person to walk through life with.

Together, they built a love filled with laughter, support, creativity, and countless memories. And from that love came their greatest masterpiece of all—their son, Ares Adonis Whyte.

Looking back, it’s funny to think that after two years of passing each other by, all it took was one extra shift, one greeting, and a shared love of music to start a love story that would last a lifetime.
